New incoming committee announcement

To All the beloved NUS Riders,

Maybe this is long overdued but its better late than never. As you might have noticed, the forum nowadays is being filled with hints of the incoming committee. So it is finally time for me to officially hand over the club to the new incoming committee for the academic year 2010/2011.

First of all, I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude to all every single one of you, who are involved in every way, making the year a wonderful one for the club. I sincerely hope that all the meetups, makan sessions and touring trips has blossomed meaningful relationships amongst riders, both old and new. I for one, hope that I have managed to fulfill and continue the legacy left behind by previous presidents, in ensuring the club lives on to provide great riding experiences for student riders.

I would like to take this opportunity to convey my greatest thanks to my outgoing committee members especially Hafiz, Wadi, Haikal, Xianyu for all their help and dedication towards the club, in helping me plan and make critical decisions in all the activities. Many events would have not successful if it weren’t for their enthusiasm and optimism. It has been a wonderful experience working alongside with you guys and hope that we have grown together from it.

Indeed. my utmost thanks to all riders who have make the effort and time to join us and hope that you will continue to give your fullest support for the club and the new committee. Do look out for the exciting activities and trips that will be organized this new academic year. My parting gift for all riders, always remember, “Once an NUS Rider, always an NUS Rider!”

Without further a due, let’s welcome the new committee members to lead the club for the new academic year. It’s my honour to hand over the position of Club President to our ex-secretary, Iswadi, more known as Wadi. In the past year, he has contributed large effort in planning and displayed keen interest in running for Club President. Hence, it is my pleasure to handover my position to him.

He will be running with the newly appointed Vice President, Phyo, who will be running the riding club together alongside him. Their experience and enthusiasm will definitely be highly beneficial towards the future of the club. I shall let the new President to have the honour of announcing their new committee members soon. Do give them your fullest undying support, like the ones that you have given to me.

On behalf of my committee members, I offer my apologies for any miscommunications, miscoordination or hiccups that may have happened during our committee. Lastly, I hope that you have thoroughly enjoyed your experience with the club and that we have managed to live up to our club motto,

“Three Classes, Two Wheels, One Passion!”

Tanjung Nelayan Trip (5 June 2010)

A total of 8 riders and 2 pillion rode up North to try some sensationalizing seafood at Tanjung Nelayan. For the first time, the meeting point was at NUS Macs (instead of SRC Carpark). It proved useful anyway since some riders were late!

Although there was a slight jam at Tuas Checkpoint, the journey to Tanjung Nelayan Pendas Area was relaxing. Overall, the riders would agree that it was a rather smooth and enjoyable ride except for a few bumps here and there. A few dishes were ordered and some of the recommended highlight dish would be the 'ikan tiga rasa' dish (translated as 3 flavoured fish) which was simply delicious!!

After savouring our scrumptious lunch, we took some photos together inside the eating area and also by the jetty. Up next, riders made their way to A&W Jusco to have a quick bite and made their way back soon after...

NRC BIKERS' CHALLENGE 2010

For the second year running, NTU Riders' Club (NRC) presents NRC BIKERS' CHALLENGE 2010!!!~~

This is NRC version of Amazing Race on wheels! Each team comprises 3 to 4 riders where they explore and ride around different locations in Singapore and engage in some fun-filled acitivities! 4 teams from Nusriders registered to take part in the race.

While it was a race format, all participant riders were encouraged strongly against speeding. Instead, points were awarded based on team performance at some activity stations. Although it rained, the riders were motivated to win attractive prizes and all were eager as the race flagged-off!

Altogether, 11 checkpoints throughout Singapore include places such as East Coast Park, Labrador Park, Changi Boardwalk, West Coast Park, Tuas Circuit and Bukit Batok Driving Centre.

Some of the checkpoint activities include soduko, narrow plank course, drinking cold goats milk, motorbike taboo and even a chance to choreograph and dance to the beat of Korean dance song, 'Nobody But You'. These 'WonderRiders' stole the limelight and made the crowd burst with laughter at the ending point as videos of their dance moves were shown before prize presentation.

At the end of the race, none of the teams came back empty handed. All won prizes while the Champion Team ('Crap 400') from NUS won for themselves each a HJC full face helmet. Congratulations to all!~

NTU Riders Charity Bike Wash

The NTU riders have organized a Charity bike wash for the Spastic Children Association on the 23rd January, Saturday. It was conducted at Pasir Ris. It was quite a welcoming idea as several of us head down for the event. There were some accessories on sale like the "Helmet Boys". It was quite an amazing thrill to see the number of bikes that turned up for the event.

The ducati group, the Hayabusa groups, several Class 2 bikes. There was also a lady Ducati rider and she's definitely one of the few ladies to ride the Ducatis with the guys. They make quite a sounding entrance with the V-twins shaking the ground of the building. Managed to talk with some of them.

At the end of the day, it was all for a good cause and hoped that the benficiary will definitely gain from the charity event. Clean bikes + Doing charity, Everyone goes home happy. Below are some pictures of the event. See you guys soon! Ride Safely!

NUS Riders / NUSMS Night Cycling Event

The NUS Riders was priviledged to have been invited to marshal the NUS Muslim Society Night Cycling 2010. The event was on a Saturday Night and we have agreed to provide safety marshalls to help the cyclists around the stipulated route. It was an overnight event and was the very first official road marshalling event for the club.

There was about 160 cyclists and we have roughly 12 marshals to guide the entire operation. We were definitely lacking of manpower for the operation, however, we have to still make do with the numbers. Haikal, vice president was the man for the night being the point man, coordinator and despatcher for the event. We met up about 9pm at ECP macdonalds and have a briefing from Haikal. After which we went around to do a walkthrough of the route. Unfortunately, upon doing a u-turn at the ROM entrance, Norisha took a slip and fell down with her CBR400. We managed to rush to her attention, while sadly, another Super 4 took stationary fall, due to parking on a slope.

Luckily, no one was injured by the mishaps. The convoy carried on while I accompanied Norisha until her friend arrived and bike towed. After sending her off, we got news another Super 4's battery was flat and could not start. We were then left with 10 men for the entire operation. The entire route starts from ECP, Nicoll highway, Suntec, Mount Faber, Sultan Mosque through town area and finally back to ECP. It was quite a tough route compared to previous night cycling events, as the convoy will be travelling alongside the roads and at major roads in town area.

Upon flagoff, we have manage to secure the roads safely and positioned marshalls on the stipulated junctions. The convoy was unexpectedly long and we have to constantly cover the next junction after the last man have passed the last marshall. Along the way, the marshalls managed to take periodic breaks and pictures in between, with plenty of jokes from the riders especialy Ferrino. It definitely helped the riders overcome the fatigue level at 3am in the morning.

However, another marshall had to leave midway and our man count have to be further reduced and we had a little trouble upon reaching Lavender Road. Apparently, the convoy have to merge with a heavy 3 lane roads and we have to hold up the entire convoy to ensure enough placement. This has made the cyclistS rather impatient in addition to their level of fatigue. Hence, upon releasing them, they have made their way straight, with several uncontrolled junctions as the convoy size gets too big to handle. This was partly due to the shortage of manpower that we encountered, however, the cyclist have managed to cross each junctions safely with no incidents.

At the end of the day, we managed to return all the cyclist safely without any incidents. It was about 6am when the entire event finished and the riders as well as the cyclists were all definitely tired but happy that the event went smoothly, with only a bit of miscoordination at the end. It was indeed an eye-opening experience for all of the riders and hopefully, that the next marshalling event would be better in terms of manpower and coordination.

From the organizers and myself, I would like to thank all the riders that came down to help out in the marshalling as the safety of the event would be at jeopardy without your help. Hope you have enjoyed yourself and learnt a thing or two about road marshalling. See you guys again for the next event!

Friday Night Dinner with Suran

It was a Friday Night dinner meetup at Arnold's Chicken at City Square. More importantly, we met Suran, our popular President-to-be, as he is flying off for Student Exchange for 6 months in Estonia. He had a bad accident a few months back and had to undergo intensive surgery and recently another operation before flying off for SEP. He will take a while to fully recover from the incident, but please be assured that you'll definitely have our blessings and prayers. Prolly get back to biking sumdays.. Heh heh..

Amazingly, many people turned up for the dinner. When we reached there, the queue was definitely long! Didnt expect it to be that long though. However, the food there was delightfully tasteful, with affordable prices at that. We ended that night off with happy faces and well wishes for Suran in his SEP.

Hopefully, he'll get acquainted and bring back several estonian chicks for the single guys in the club. Kidding Bro. Have a good trip ahead and hope you have a safe flight back! See ya in 6 months time!!

Desaru Beach Trip

NUS Riders Desaru Beach trip was held on 9th January. The pre-semester trip was done to let the riders have a good break and short tour before the school starts. Initially, plans included a stopover at Kota Tinggi waterfalls and then going over to Desaru Fruitfarm, Desaru beach and pengerang for seafood. But apparently, the locations are quite far apart and due to a day trip, we were limited by the time factor. After driving with Haikal for the Recce, we decided to skip Kota Tinggi and Desaru Fruit farm and just head to Desaru for more beach time.

The morning started with the meetup at Woodlands Ave 1 Esso, and a short breakfast at Al-ameen Marsiling. After having our prata, we headed of to Desaru via Tebrau / Kota tinggi highway. The journey was about 90km from SG and the traffic was thankfully light towards Desaru. We chance upon several big bikes (several hayabusas). Awesome machines. Saeed obviously couldnt resist.

Upon reaching the beach, we immediately unload and changed to splash in the big waves. Apparently, there were red flags indicating strong currents and we're told that recently, 2 swimmers drowned and that we were to swim at our own risk. Heck, those are not going to stop us. We braced the waves prolly about 2-3 metres high. It was indeed exhilirating but still we were cautious througout.

After that, we relax by the beach and played "Tebu" (actually taboo pronounced intentionally by Hafiz) where we formed teams and described words but not being able to use "Bike" or "motor". It was indeed a very funny game as we find ourselves repeating those forbidden words again and again. Quote from Saeed, "Vehicle, vehicle, vehicle, vehicle... Bike!".

After a while, we went on to play the nearby Go-Kart, which was going at $35RM for 15minutes. It was actually a small road circuit and only a max of 4 players are allowed to play at one time. It was definitely worth the 35rm, we took turns to outrace and outcornered each other during the circuit. There were of course "incidents" where drivers, knock each other off, and crashed. Luckily no one was hurt, well, all in the spirit of competition. :P

Soon after the adrenaline-pumping karting, we headed for a late lunch at the nearby seafood restaurant, overseeing the beachline, and headed home. We initially planned for a stopover at the nearby "Special Chendol" stop, which apparently was closed as it nears 5pm. Nonetheless, we had a final pitstop at the bike wash and had a small dinner at the coffeeshop reminiscing the day. It was definitely a trip well spent, before the start of the semester!

17 riders of all bike range (135cc - 1000cc) rode to Kukup for a short day trip. The journey was memorable as some new riders joined the trip to experience the joy of riding in a convoy.

The day started when riders met at NUS. After a quick briefing, they convoyed towards Tuas Checkpoint. Although the traffic was heavy entering Malaysia, all riders reached Gelang Patah Petrol Station safely.

After the safety briefing by Ash, riders made their way under the hot and blazing sun to Kukup for a tasty and delicious coconut pudding. One of the riders said, "The pudding was God-sent, seeing the weather." (Khalis, 2009)

After the light dessert, they made their way to Tanjong Piai Nature Park for a short walk to the 'Southern Most Tip of Mainland Asia'. The walk around the nature reserve was interesting as monkeys greeted them along the way. A mass photo shoot with their rides concluded the Nature Walk.

Feeling hungry, the riders proceeded to have sumptuous seafood at Tanjong Piai Resort, accompanied by magnificent sea view. Icebreaker games were conducted while waiting for the food and everyone became closely bonded as they shared more about themselves.

After the meal, they proceeeded to Bukit Indah and had A&W for dinner. The trip ended with a debrief and a mass photoshoot. Everyone had an enjoyable time at the end of the day.

BBDC Ride Safe 2009

This year’s BBDC Ride safe was organized on a Saturday morning. Meet up point was in NTU Nanyang house where we were briefed by the BBDC instructors on the event details. Similarly like last year’s event, there will be a mass convoy in the center and skill riding competition to be held in circuit. There will be prizes for the individual performances and group competition events.

The morning started out with a slight drizzle and luckily, the weather lady decide to show some sympathy to the event and shined afterwards. There was a slight stationary accident in NTU, when Saeed fell off during a tight U turn attempt. Nothing major only a broken brake lever and took his rxz instead.

After the convoy to BBDC, we went around and patronize the booths, comprising of several bike displays, TP gadgets, motorcycle accessories, accident statistics and such. The turnout was quite a lot with different riders donning their club’s shirts. After arrival of the Guest of Honour and certificate presentation, the mass convoy was conducted to “flag” off the event.

Every bike was throttle happy and few hundred exhausts were screaming to mark the start of the occasion. After that, there were some displays of skill riding by the instructors including an accident scenario where an instructor flew off his bike. We were given 2-3 rounds of warm up and then proceed for the competition. Unfortunately, 2 riders went off the plank hence, we did not attain the required timings.

The event ended with by several speeches from various individuals on road safety and prize presentation. One of the NTU team won the first place in group event and won themselves airbag jackets. It was quite a long day and the event ended with a goodie bag distribution. It was quite pleasing to find the goodie bags containing gloves, drinks, and a 2GB thumb drive!

Friday Night Kulai

It seems to be unusually addictive to be travelling up the NSHW, 40kms away from Tuas, for a nasi lemak supper in Kulai.. But not apparently so for the NUS and NTU riders. A short chilly ride, to satisfy the 299-cravings. There were little more turn-up this time round totalling to about 10plus people.

After meeting at GP Esso, we made our way to Kulai. Along the way, Nuri saw several things flying off. Upon reaching Kulai exit, we came to realise that Shihong's NSR pillion seat actually flew off, together with his items in it!! The vibrations must have unlock some ledge to cause the incident. Luckily, nothing important were lost, but just a few pieces of paper.

Upon reaching there, as always, we had the gingery nasi lemak, with some riders helping themselves to a second serving. The group sat, getting to know each other along the way, sharing biking experiences and more.

We headed back to SG via first link about 12am. Several riders got the wrong turn and broke the formation up and regrouped in Esso near JB city centre. Before ending the day, several bikes went the motorbike shops in Lorong Bapok (a.k.a Ah Gua Lane), more renown for the number os working she-males there.

Lesson learnt: Ensure that the critical things (i.e. wallet n passport) is always physically with you all the times in JB. You may never know when your seat is going to fail on you.. Hehe.

Dam Good Night

Organized by the NTU riders, Dam Good Nite is an outing that takes riders around the 3 dams in Singapore: Kranji Dam, Yishun Dam, Marina Barrage. Meeting place was at NTU house with major delay die to our miscoordination, some latecomers and misdirections. A total of 20plus bike, reaching 30, came for the event. Upon joining up in NTU house, we set off to Kranji dam through the chilly Neo Tiew road. It was cold, foggy and spooky. Definitely not a ride for the faint of heart.

Upon reaching Kranji, we had an introduction of riders and ice breakers between the NTU and NUS riders. There are also some SP and SIM riders that joined the event. After treating ourselves with free drinks and crackers, we headed off to Yishun dam via Mandai Road. There, we travelled to the newly constructed road, Seletar North Road, to arrive at a desoluted area, where we played some games; plank and pylon simulation, to accumulate points for the prize of the day.

Each of the riders took turns to run the course, with near misses and wobbling bikes. After a hearty event, we took time to indulge in supper at Jalan Kayu. As always, the place is irritatingly crowded, hence the group took awhile to find seats and have their food. The last pit stop was at Marina Barrage. Abit of miscommunication here, as some of the riders got detached from the lead bike and missed the KPE exit. Hence, the lost sheeps took a long (hilariously long) route to Pasir ris and then to Marina Barrage. Amazingly, they managed to reached only 5 minutes abfter our arrival. Interesting to see them not breaking off home..

Marina Barrage is the final destination for prize giving. Prizes include an AGV raincoat, tyre repair kits, landyards, stickers and more. Overall, it was indeed a fun-filled night, despite all the hiccups and delays. Kudos to the NTU riders for organizing such event for the riders.

To sum it up.. It was a Dam Good Nite! Ride Safe Everyone!!

NUS Riders Mini AGM 2009

The club was invited for a mini informal AGM for the academic year 2009/2010. As such, the agenda for the AGM includes introducing the club to the new riders, club committee members and more importantly activities planned for the year. This year's event was held in SDE lecture room. About 10 people came for the small meeting cum dinner outing afterwards.

More about the club was explained to the new riders, coupled with the rides planned for the year and holidays. We were glad to have Hongwei, ex-president to share with us the info on personal accident insurance. In the light of all the recent mishaps, I personally think that its critical that we have additional insurance to cover our medical expense should anything happen. Like what Hongwei said, its buying a peace of mind for our loved ones. Never say never..

Anyway, we headed to Charcos, Ang mo kio for a hearty Portugese dinner. Had lots of laughter around the table after so awhile not meeting up. We then headed out to Lower Pierce Reservoir to chill and continue catching up the old good times until it was time for us to head back. It was quite a fun time, riding, eating and chilling with the riders, yet again. Until the next outing, Ride Safe everybody!

NUS Riders Go Kart w/ NTU Riders

A go-kart outing at permas jaya, plentong was organized by the NTU riders. Meetup location was at Esso Woodlands Ave 1 at 10am, and a total of about 8-10 riders came for the ride. After liasing with the NTU riders at the petrol station, we made our way to the destination via Woodlands Checkpoint. The jam was about to start when we arrived, and luckily, it was not too long.

Upon topping up, we made our convoy to the gokart location. The road there was indeed filled with gravel and loose sand, coupled with many construction debri by the site. Pretty much a biker's nightmare. Unfortunately, Kaisheng from NTU, skidded at one of the junctions and we have to regroup again at another location. Luckily he got minor injuries and a broken mirror. Determined, we still carried on with the trip as planned.

Upon reaching there, we were greeted by 3,5km of offroad, with each of us going slower than normal, but its not as bad as I thought it would be. We then played for 1 round of 10 minutes and got an entire body massage from the vibrations of the go-kart. It was quite an adrenaline rush for the guys, whizzing through the circuit, trying to push for speed around the corners. It was indeed a new experience for most of the guys, having their sessions in a circuit.

Upon finishing the 10 minutes, the group was in a state of elation, each with their own stories to tell. After cooling from euphoria, we took a group shot and headed to the nearest bike wash at JB city centre. We then ended the day with happy memories, although enduring the hot sun, coupled with the fasting month. Indeed, there will be another Go-kart trip to be planned soon!

NUS Riders Bowling Night

In the month of Ramadhan, the nusriders shared the breakfast session at West Coast Plaza, BBQ Chicken. Invitation was extended to the NTU Riders as well. A total of about 15-20 riders came for the dinner and bowling outing afterwards. The food was not bad with them having the Student discount (1 selected dish plus 1 drink at $7+ Nett). Main plus point was that the place was halal and "healthy" due to its cooking with olive oil.

After a hearty meal, the group headed out to the West Coast Bowl. Suprisingly, the bowling alley was fulled, with a group of Foreigners occupying like 5-6lanes, having a party at that. So, we have to wait a while before, having our turns to play. Occupying 2 lanes, the riders took turns to strut their bowling skills and having mini competition with each other. Atmosphere was filled with laughters and everybody was having a good time. The outing ends till 11 plus with each other looking forward for the weekends.

NUS Riders Orientation Ride 2009

The day started out with much anticipation from both new and senior riders alike. As always, this annual event is organized for riders, to introduce them to the club, and orientate riders to carparks around the campus, so as to convienient park nearer to their destination. We were extremely excited to see the encouraging turnout about 20+ bikes, both from new riders and senior ones, and even in between. In addition, Saeed (NTU Riders President) was also there to join us for the ride.

After proper briefing, we went off around campus in an orderly staggered manner. THe sight of organized bikes, roaring around the campus was tingling the senses, and curious onlookers awed at the formation. Carpark, after carpark, we finally cleared the campus major lots and proceed to have dinner at Villa Bali. A little technical problem encountered with overheating S4. Nothing major though.

We then, moved to Kent Ridge Park, where we gather and play some ice breaker games, finding the 3 clues which leads to our "sacred message", little bike quizes and a self-intro of bikers to the club. It was indeed tickling to see riders, scurrying around the park, trying to find the 3 clues, shouting at each other to communicate. Finally, team Honda, won the game, and deciphered the message, which was our club slogan. "3 Classes, 2 Wheels, 1 Passion". Quizes was fun, with the motive to share biking knowledge with the riders, both senior and freshies. Lastly, as conducted last year, we introduced everybody to the club and share our stories with each other.

We officially end the Orientation Ride in Kent Ridge Park. But being riders, one can never get enough of riding so we broke off the night into smaller groups, with some going to Johore for supper and several going for Tau Huay. Those who called it a day, went off with happy smiles as we wave the bikes off safely home.

As club president, I do feel the air of satisfaction as we end the event off. I hope that everybody have enjoyed their time as much I do, in hoping to organizing more future activities for the riders! Until then, see you guys in school and ride safe!

NUS Riders Matric Fair 2009

Greetings Everybody!

We would like to thank everybody for their interest in signing up with the NUS Riders at the matriculation fair 2009. With that, we cordially welcome you guys to the University and at the same time, inviting everyone to our NUS RIDERS Orientation Ride 2009.

Touching abit on the club, We are a group of students and motorcycle enthusiasts, formed within our campus community, with a mindful purpose of cultivating safe riding. Our club activities include riding sessions, group bonding activities and even touring sessions across the border. As such, we welcome all motorcyclist from the NUS community, be it current or ex-students, to join in our club outings!

The Orientation Ride is a yearly event, aimed at navigating new riders to different places and carparks in the campus. This event also gives opportunity for both new riders and current student riders to network around and forging friendships with fellow bikers in the University.

So, do head down to our Orientation Ride at the location and time below!

It was my first contact with a tennis racket and a yellow tennis ball on this tennis court of NUS.
Well, as you guys know, I am not a sports person. But for once, I wanna sweat out a bit... to exercise my lazy bones and to try tennis for the first time of my life!

We - Yuwen, Phyo and I (Kitty) planned to play tennis on a saturday in school. So this day came and 3 of us were excited for this tennis session! Well, we had a fun day hitting the ball in all directions and picking up the bouncy yellow balls which ended up on other courts most of the time. After a 1 good hour of picking up tennis balls, I gave up. Watching them play was a better option as I was already satisfied with my attempt to 'exercise'.

I had been playing "Spot the difference" on facebook religiously for the past few days. And setting that high score meant a lot to me! The limit for playing was only 2 times per day and I knew that I had that 2 new chances to beat my friend's score that day!

Under the scorching sun, with beads of perspiration all over me, I wished that I have internet access to facebook to quench my thirst for that photo-hunt game!!!!

GOD.

I seriously cannot remember when did i become so addicted to the internet.. and that facebook game!

Games Night @ Decoders Cafe

A night when we forget all about school work, projects and tests. The initial plan was to play at Settler's Cafe at Holland V. But we later realised that it had closed down. Boss then managed to find an alternative which is Decoders Cafe. We played quite a few games till the shop closes! The shop people were practically chasing us out. They wanted to go home but we were still at it playing the fun games! Haha. The most happening game was Taboo! The team with Cheeko as their member lost! What a pity but it was suppeeeerrrr fun nonetheless. I guess pictures speaks louder than words. Here are all the pictures we took that night. Well, Hafiz took them using his trusted hp. So pardon the lousy quality.

Not Easy, Trying Really Hard

Yes! Maintaining and updating a blog on a regular basis is not easy. I myself dont have a personal blog. So I hope you guys and gals understand if there is nothing new being posted ok. Anyway, lets get to business. Some people have not only been whispering in my ears that they wanna be featured here. In fact, my ears are ringing from the constant bugging. Ok kinda exaggerated but still, I have been asked a few times why aren't they featured. So without further ado.....

First, we have our most interesting and happening story of the week. Our wonderful, lovely boss has gotten himself like one of the best burfday prezzie ever!!! Oh and what might that be??? What blog is this? NUSRiders right?? And what do we involve ourselves in?? Bikes right??? So get the hint?? AHA! Yes! He got a mean machine in his new R6!!!! Thats what I call a bike. Not to be outdone by some of the fellow riders who recently upgraded. Boss managed to find a bike to show that his IS the BOSS! Haha. I cant seem to find the pic of his bike with a hot model wearing flowery shorts in the forum. Oh wells, too bad then. One whole paragraph about him. Enough already. Next.

I got 2 guys who wants to be mentioned. Who shd go first?? Hmm...Eenie Miny Eeniee MO! Haikal! Haha. Since this is the first time I'm mentioning him in the blog so I'll let him go first. Just a simple congratz to him for passing his class 2! OK done. Happy now Haikal??!! Hahaha.

Faz is next. What's up with him? If you read the shoutbox on the right, he mentioned about his big tank experience. Well, he went offroad, got lost in some forested area which is by the way a training area for army and he came face to face with a really big tank. That tank almost crushed his bike together with him. Good thing he managed to siam. Hahaha. Ya unlikely story. Truth is be bought a tank big enough to keep a shark. OK not exactly a shark but its big. He turning his new XR400 into an African Twin. Now that he got his 22L tank, he is gonna put a box. Yupz so that is his story.

I don't know what else to write at the moment. I'll be posting the board games night next. When I dont know. Soon I hope. Anyone wants their story to be told, don't shy shy. Can announce in th SBF forum (link is on the right) or on the shoutbox. Whether I post it up or not is different matter altogether. Hahaha. Oh, latest outing by the club was to Kulai for Nasi Lemak at night. Interesting right. I was not able to go. Heard that they satisfied their stomach to the fullest. Future outings are being planned so do look out for them. Most prob after the exams so dont have to worry. If before it will be to chillz kind. Get the mind off studies for a while. That's it. Ciaoz~

Today's post will be very short. And I do mean very short. Sorry coz still no pics but this post is gonna be short. So that means no pics. I'm still busy with mid terms and projects and assignments and purchasing a bike. Yes! Me purchasing bike.

Not only me but seems like every father mother son and daughter in NUSRiders are getting a new bike. Even boss! But he sounded pissed and mentioned someone beat him to the bike. Dont know what that means. So far for now only Faz can truly claim he got a new bike. The rest NATO. I dont even know what I'm babbling right now. The stress getting to me. Aaarrgghhh!!!

So anyway, outing this coming Fri. Meet at SRC carpark at 630pm. The plan is to go have dinner and then head to Settlers' Cafe to have crazy fun! Yea! But then as for now, the turn out dont seem too good. There might not even be an outing. Wahlau!!! Dont like that can. How long must wait for another outing??!!!

Hello all! Yes I know its been like a week. No updates and still no pics of Kukup. Truly, sincerely, from the bottom of my heart, I apologise. Been busy "mugging" and doing projects and what nots. I have a life too ok! Hahaha. I'm still figuring out how best to showcase the many different pics we have on our Kukup trip. Should I put everything one lump sum in a single post? Shd I do by individual riders? Or by time? Hmm...wonder wonder. I'll settle it soon dont ya worry yea. Just wait in anticipation for the pics. LOL. Ok so anyway, y the post is titled congratulations you may wonder, right right? Coz since this blog is to update the ins and outs, the ups and downs and the over and under of NUSRiders, I'm gonna do it by congratulating the following people. I dont know much lar whats going on with every single rider so I'm posting this to the best of my knowledge.

for getting a new wife! I meant bike! Haha. Mentioned by the man himself, he is a damn proud owner of an XR400!!! His "wanging" just got a lot more shiok! But apparently the leaking thingy didnt seem to go away. Oh well, congratz on getting your current dream bike Mr Muay Thai! Oh yea talking about muay thai, congratulation once more for representing NUS in the muay thai tournament. Haha. Enough about Faz. Lets move on....

Up next, a relative newbie to the NUSRiders family, a tragedy yet enriching experience that befall him during his first trip with us. He is none other than.....

for repairing his bike and being able to ride once more despite going kinda slow for the time being. Haha. From this, he managed to find a new way to get to school from his house apart from the usual boring expressways. Congratz to you Mr Handphone Camcorder cum Video Maker!

Hello riders! Today marks the last day of matric fair.
So far we have a good response with over 20 riders signing up.
We have bandit riders, phanthom riders and a fair no. of sp riders.
Well, be it class 2b, 2a, or 2, we all ride on 2 wheels, so dont be shy and say 'i'm just a class 2b'.

So what? Everyone has to pass through that stage right?!
Along the way you'll get your class 2a or class 2 license with who-knows, your new friend from nusriders?

Remember, orientation ride is on 13th AUG WEDNESDAY 6pm , meet @ SRC CARPARK.

We'll be riding around the school into carparks of the different faculties, and maybe dinner/supper after that!!

We know each other through nus ride-0uts/ matric fair too!

We have always received comments that nusriders interest group is a small club and has little riders man.

#1. Every trip we been to msia, we have at least 13 to 14 bikes, so its not the no. of riders that makes the club. Its the passion of riding and how far you want to bring this passion to, how willing are you to make friends with another rider at the carpark, or in school. =)

#2. Nus students are busy bees, we all have so many things to do, work, study, dating and etc...
At some point or another, you may wish to have a bunch of friends to la-kopi or go supper with.
Feel free to join us for our supper sessions! The guys are good at talking bikes, girls, and much more!

#3. Nus riders interest group has no CCA points. Yup thats true! Most of us join this group solely based on our passion and interest in bikes. I guess many nus riders have riding groups outside of nus. Thats fine! Since you'll be spending 50% of your time in NUS, why not know more people & be part of a riding group in school=)

#4. Even though you have graduated from NUS or you are Friends-of-nusriders, we still regard you as part of nus-riders!
For example, cheesiong, seastorm,wildcat,cheeko,calyban and many more!

MatriC Fair 2008

MatriC fair is coming once again.... starting on 25th July 2008.
Woohoooooo, our talk-but-paint-less president Honghong has many plans for this matriC fair... one of them was to do posters...they will be hanged in the matri hall & the SRC carpark.

So some of nus riders met up during the last Sunday... and got our hands dirty with colours for the posters. =)

Next up, we'll be doing nusriders tee shirt too...it'll be orange colour. Interested buyers please order from us ASAP!

Seriously, I love Nus riders although sometimes 'some' guys gossips & stir shit too much...
But I like riding around with them. I mean, they are one bunch of helpful and funny dudes...

The long semester break is coming to an end...!

Well nusriders went to some places...
and one of them was KUKUP.

IT was one hell of an experience for many of us... (the first timers)...

We had to ride through a distance of road with pot holes and muds... hehe.

And after that we had to ride into the kampong area....

Black Friday.....for Charlyn

It was the last Friday before term break starts. But little did Charlyn know that it would be the last time she ride her kippy for a long time..From TNP, Sat 23rd Feb 2008.

The fallen tree branches, which could be seen lying around the area, damaged several motorbikes which were parked there.
One of the affected bike-owners was Miss Charlyn Loh, a second-year business student.
She was at a lecture at the business school building and had felt some tremors when the crane crashed.
She didn't learn of what happened until 30 minutes later when her friend, who saw her damaged bike, alerted her of the damage.
The accident left her $3,000 Kawasaki bike with damaged side-mirrors and dents to the bike body, said Miss Loh.
It also meant that she had to leave her bike at the bus stop and take a bus to her Serangoon home yesterday.
She said: 'I was shocked to see what had happened. I was also upset to see my bike damaged but accidents can't be helped.'

Kind words Char, hope you get your bike ready soon!( Char in despair, although she claimed to be combing her fringe)

Kranji Dam 31st Jan

The first outing of the new year! We headed to Kranji dam via the 40 lamp posts on Lim Chu Kang Rd. Present were The Trios(hw cs faz) , Stan and WQ, Ash and family(only them siblings),Kitty, Issac and Maverick! One new comer is better than none! The President have gone to stealth mode nowadays.. One day not just his box will be missing...
Maverick's FJR1300 had a punctured tire at JT Hall Rd. So the rest of us continued....

The cold wind blows.
The frog came to party.
The silence at Kranji Dam......priceless.

We were the noisest group. While couples heavy petting over there just cursed us in silence. After enjoying the cold breeze we went to eat at Timah. Where Hong Hong used his wide extensive knowledge of law to get a free meal as a reward for those who came. haha....Here are the pics!

Where do I start?

Motocross (aka MotoX). A sport that does not get the attention and support that it should. Some don't even know its existance! For those who only know about MotoGP, let me enlighten you that racing is not only on the track. Nicky Hayden started off as a dirt-racer before becoming 2006 MotoGP World Champion.

Hongwei and I reached the Tuas Circuit around 11am. Briefing was still going on (in SINGLISH!! haha!) It was hot as hell. Hongwei claimed he got sunburnt. Spectators have to stand. But all these were worth it. The smell of the smoke from the exhaust, the sound of all the different modifications, the sight of the riders covered in mud and the feeling of being there is something memorable. It was an amazing experience being a spectator.....Imagine being in the race!

There were different catagories : Novice MX, Expert MX, PitBikes and Enduro. Whatever catagories the racers were in, it can be seen clearly that they were exhausted towards the end. MX is not just a test of riding skills but also stamina and physical endurance.

KX250F, KX250R, XR4, WR4, KTM2, KTM4 and many more amazing scramblers were spotted in the race. The jumps were fun to watch but it's the sharp turns that cause problems for the riders.

Anyway, we have always heard that it's not the bike that makes a difference in a race, it's the rider...and yesterday's race was a perfect example. If you guys watch the news, there is this 12 yr old kid. He rides a 85cc KTM (I think...definitely not >125cc) and he beats the rest of the 400cc competitors hands down. But I dun think he was there as a competitors....more like just a demo.

My tour guide said that on their road, bikers are always in the right in an accident. Simply cuz there are too many bikes and they are transport for many of them...

I could feel the simplicity in the lives of those kampung people, kids running around, playing with bike, riding without helmet.
Life is like so simple for them!

But anyhow this is Sg, and i shud stop daydreaming.

The seafood there was nice, though i got rashes... hygiene there nt good.

Disappointed, didnt get to see any old pehpeh with mistresses.

So paiseh, didnt talk much about the drinkdrive campaign, nothing much actually.
After attending 2A 1st lesson with Faz and Hongwei, we rode in the rain down to school. Den we all met at SRC cp then went down to CatHay CinEplex.

Well, I'm so lazy to describe abt the event, we all attend just for the freebies (cashcards) yah.? haha.Joking lah, we are all responsible riders on the road,

And we got the opportunity to take pics with Nus motoring club and Ntu riders club.(sorry if I spelled wrongly the names of the club)v tired siah juz came back from batam =x
After that we headed to eat lunch, and then Jurong hill for chitchatting...

filling petrol in malaysia.

while queueing at the customs for our turn to stamp our passports to go
back S'pore,
2 malay guys wearing esso polo tees, probably from the
station where i filled my tank,

approached us and told us that we did not
pay for our petrol
(pls note i've already handed our passports to the
custom officer).

Of cos we told him we paid but the malay guy asked me
for receipt which i cant produce since i don't normally ask from the
counter.

Hearing that, the officer, while holding the passports, refused to let
us go unless we settle the payment.

even after telling them so many times that we paid, they don't let us go,
and asked 1 of us to follow hem back to check the cctv.

of cos we didn't agree and told the officer
to let all of us go back together to check,

he said yes, but have to leave the passports with him as he claimed that he had already stamped
one of our passports,

Rubbish! cos we didn't see him stamp anything.

In the end, my fren, who was rushing back to Singapore decided to just pay
them 'again'and end the problem.

the two guys looked happy as if the trip to look
for us at the custom paid off.

in the end, i paid them 62RM when i only
pumped 56.50RM worth of synergy F1 petrol.

After that, the 2 guys walked
to the officer's booth and shake hands w the officer and the senior,
happily. in front of us man.....

it appears that the staffs at the petrol stations will informed those people
waiting at the customs if
they noticed anyone leaving the station without the receipt.

So bros and sis, pls rem to collect your receipt when paying for
anything, yes anything there.

Who knows what story they may have next
time. Don't give these ppl a chance to earn bonus."

Laiyew (hehechan) 's 25 yr old vespa went with us to Kulai, steady siah. But pls fix your tail light!! You are totally unseenable in the dark!! hehe. The 3 of us (Laiyew, me and Kevin) risked our lives by overtaking on the 1st lane, while a bigbigbigbigbig vehicle was just behind Kevin... after that it overtook us. Me and Laiyew were like... wooooooo, like flying like that... the wind so big!

Enjoy the following 14 pics and 3 clips. =) Ten bravest (or i should say bo liaoz) souls from Nus motorcycling interest group took part in Ride Safe 2007.

Ride safe 2007 is a big event organized by bbdc and its purpose is to spread awareness of safety riding. Ha HA, but our purpose was to get goodies bags and chaoz.

Briefing at 8.30am @ yih student room

9.30am left school and on our way to bbdc.

Well there's only 5 bikes in the 1st pic cuz we are supposed to join all other companies in the flagging off ride of the event. The wait reminded us of queuing up at 2nd link (during peak hours), so we waited n waited, honking, and waiting... Finally the 'ceremony' finally start!! and 5 of us together with some other 100 bikes started to crawl around bbdc circuit and past the whole crowd...

Vespa Gals... very cute... oh no i sound so lesbian, but the kitty vespa is really CUTE!!!!

After much crapping, bike appreciations, stoning, catching mosquitos and sitting on bikes, Fazli and Hongwei decided to call it a night. Den followed by Kevin the indian man, and the rest of the guys... The rest (Deyang , Kitty, Calyban, Chottoh, Charlyn, Mark) stayed till like 2am? With lotsa men gossiping, bike gossiping, this and that... oh my, guys also can gossip??? hehehe.

Hello freshies and oldies, welcome to our virgin blog by Nus Riders for the latest happenings and gossips.

I'll do a short & sweet introduction on this interest group called the NUS Students’ Motorcycling Interest Group.

In a helmet shell, the president of this interest group is Kevin from Engineering, year 2.

Mixed indian and chinese ah... mai siao siao. Long eye lashes and hairy!! just a joke, relac ah...

Next we have our Vice President Charlyn (on right) from Business and Secretary Kitty (on left) from Arts, in year 2 too.

Lastly, this is our treasure Anastacia from arts too.

Right now... we are busy with the Matric Fair 07, which last from 30th July to 2nd August!
Well, can say that it was quite a last minute as the person-in-charge-of-matric decided to give us a small space for our booth. Its located at the end of the matric flow... near the EXIT.

So poor thing hor, 3 pple squeeze at the booth...
but only for phototaking lah.
Kevin, cs and stanly spent some time at the src carpark too to spread some publicity for Nusriders... well done boys! We managed to get some freshies riders to register with us at our booth. Response for today is hmmm, okay lah, not a lot though. =(

Please come sign up with us and you can buy our polo tees + stickers at only $20 !!! Dont be shy, we are nice people okay. Dont see us blast techno and rnb songs and helmet on the table like some ah lians and ah bengs, but we are not! We are warm @ hrt!
